Community standards

What every member of the Inclusive Education (IE) Hub for Africa agrees to when they join. These standards apply across the members' forum, direct messages, events and anything shared through the IE Hub for Africa.

Version 1.0 · effective 23 September 2026

1. Take part constructively

  • Share knowledge, experience and resources that help others make education inclusive.
  • Support peer learning: answer questions where you can, and credit other people's work.
  • Keep discussions on topic for the community you are posting in.

2. Respect people and perspectives

  • Respect diverse perspectives, disagree with ideas, never with people.
  • Use language that is respectful, trauma-informed and non-stigmatising, including about disability.
  • No harassment, discrimination, hate speech or personal attacks, in public posts or in direct messages.
  • Promote inclusion and equity in everything you share.

3. Keep children and adults at risk safe

  • Never post the name, location, photograph or any identifying detail of a child or young person without explicit consent from the child, their parent or guardian and the relevant organisation.
  • Never share an unconsented photograph of any identifiable person.
  • Report anything that looks unsafe, harmful or inappropriate straight away. Read our full safeguarding policy.

4. Respect confidentiality and privacy

  • What is shared in a private community, or in a direct message, stays there. Don't copy it outside the forum without permission.
  • Don't share other members' contact details or personal information.
  • Don't use the member directory or messages for unsolicited marketing or bulk messaging.

5. Share responsibly

  • Only post content you have the right to share, and name the original source and author when you share someone else's work.
  • Nothing unlawful, defamatory or misleading, and no spam.
  • Don't attempt to disrupt, scrape or gain unauthorised access to the site or forum.

How the standards are upheld

Community moderators and IE Hub for Africa administrators keep the forum safe and on topic. Depending on how serious a breach is, they may edit, hide or remove content, lock a discussion, give a warning, or suspend or remove a member. Safeguarding concerns are always escalated to the IE Hub for Africa team.

Reporting a concern

Use the Report option on any post, or contact the IE Hub for Africa team. Reports are reviewed by a moderator, and safeguarding reports are prioritised.
