This brief documents a two-day consultation convened by the United Disabled Persons of Kenya (UDPK), in partnership with Sightsavers, to gather disability inclusion inputs for memoranda on Kenya’s six proposed Education Bills.
The consultation brought together learners with disabilities, organisations of persons with disabilities, education institutions and government stakeholders to examine how proposed education reforms can address barriers to learning, strengthen participation and support progression into further education and decent work.
The accompanying UDPK analysis reviewed disability-related provisions, strengths and gaps across the six Bills, using Kenya’s constitutional obligations and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) as its framework.
